Leek yields best on moderately compact, loamy-sandy soils in good condition and with regulated water-air ratios, containing a lot of humus. The soil pH should be adjusted to a value of 6.0-7.5. If soil analysis has not been performed, the number of mineral fertilizers per hectare in the sites moderately rich in nutrients should be: 150-200 kg N, 100-160 kg P₂O₅, 150-240 kg K₂O.
