Pumpkin yields well on all types of soil with regulated air-water ratios, rich in humus, fertile, quickly warming up, permeable and aerated. Heavy, drainable and sandy soils poor in humus are unsuitable for pumpkins. The optimum pH for a pumpkin is 6.0-7.2. Pumpkins are sensitive to insufficient potassium and magnesium supply in plants. If soil analysis has not been performed, the number of mineral fertilizers per hectare at the sites in the first year after applying manure should be: 120-200 kg N, 200-300 kg P2O5, 150-360 kg K2O. Pumpkin responds very well to foliar fertilization.
