Cherry and sweet cherry

Due to the fact that cherries develop earlier than apple trees, their flowers are more often damaged by frosts. Therefore, elevated areas should be selected for cultivation. You should also avoid sites where plants sensitive to Verticillium wilt were grown, such as strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, cruciferous plants, or potatoes.

Sweet cherry, in turn, develops earlier than cherry and blooms about 10 days earlier. Due to this, its flowers are more often damaged by spring frosts. Therefore, an ideal site for a sweet cherry orchard will be small elevations, slopes, or tops of low hills, where the trees will not freeze during cold winters, and will also avoid damage.

Sweet cherries require fertile, deep, well-drained, aerated, non-acidic soils with a pH of 6.5-7.2 and not wetlands. They grow best on loess soils, on loose loams and on sandy loam soils. Sweet cherries like soil rich in water, but cannot tolerate wet soil. The groundwater level should not be higher than 2 m from the surface. Sweet cherries grow and bear fruit poorly in dry, sandy, heavy and cold soil.

Cherry orchards grow best in fertile soil, rich in nutrients and organic matter, aerated, slightly acidic soil at pH 6.1-6.9. Podzolic soils, brown soils and luvisols formed from slightly loamy sands, and deep rendzinas are useful for growing cherries. Cherries grow poorly in constantly moist soils with a high level of groundwater. It should not exceed 150-180 cm.

In order to obtain a high, good-quality crop, it is necessary to pay special attention to proper agricultural technology. Fertilization is an essential factor. It should be based on the results of the research on soil fertility and the content of minerals in leaves. Soil fertilization should be supplemented by foliar fertilization, which is a method of quick supplementation of nutrients in the plant.

Fertilization technologies

Taking into account the different expectations of farmers in terms of crop nutrition, we have prepared for you three complete proposals for foliar fertilization.
The following technologies have been prepared in response to these expectations, in order to optimally nourish the crop and are for reference. If you have any questions regarding the details of the technology and the adjustment of the individual dosage of the indicated products, we invite you to contact our Team.
